πŸ“š Library Opening Hours for Academic year 2023/2024 Continues πŸ“š

We would like to inform you about the updated physical library opening hours for Semester 1. Please take note of the following schedule:

πŸ“… Monday to Friday: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

πŸ“… Every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, starting from October 2022: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

These revised hours aim to better accommodate your needs and provide you with extended access to our resources and services.

We look forward to welcoming you during our new operating hours and assisting you with your academic pursuits.

 

Library Orientation and Information Literacy Sessions 

To enhance your experience with us, we offer local library orientation and information literacy sessions throughout the semester. Look out for group session dates and times at the beginning of each semester!

Study Spaces

The general reading / study area accommodates 30 patrons; however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic protocols implemented, the library can only accommodate 4 persons in the room at this time.

Computer access

  • There is a limited number of computers for patron use. All patrons can use the service to log on to the World Wide Web, type papers, and conduct research. The UWI Acceptable Use Policy for Information & Communication Technology applies to all computer users and access is limited to one (1) hour; based on demand, time may be extended.
  • All computers are equipped with the latest versions of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Patrons are asked to save documents on jump drives and other portable storage devices. Information saved on the computers will be deleted.

Photocopying, Printing

Rates $0.50 one side page / $0.80 two side page. Colour painting $1.00 and up.

Library Rules

The library is provided exclusively for the purpose of academic study and research. Any conduct inconsistent with this purpose or detrimental to its pursuit by others shall constitute a breach of rules.

Silence should be observed in the library.

CELLULAR PHONE USE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED IN THE LIBRARY. STUDENTS WHO FAIL TO COMPLY WILL HAVE THEIR LIBRARY PRIVILEGES SUSPENDED FOR 1 DAY IN THE FIRST INSTANCE AND FOR LONGER PERIODS WITH REPEAT OFFENCES. 

Students must seek to be pleasant, courteous and respectful to all persons at all times.

All library users must be prepared to present their student ID cards on entry or at any time when asked to do so by library staff.

In order to maintain the good image of the school, library patrons are reminded that they must be properly and decently attired upon entering the library.

ID cards are non-transferable.

Chairs, tables and other library equipment, fittings and furniture may not be marked, defaced or disarranged.

The following are prohibited: loitering; soliciting; smoking; consumption of food and drink including water, excessive noise, improper behaviour, use of profanity and obstruction of people.

Books etc., taken from the shelves and used for work in the library should be left on the tables after use and NOT be replaced on the shelves.

Students leaving the library may be called upon to show all items in their possession.

N. B. The library is equipped with Surveillance Cameras. Persons found to have availed themselves of material without permission, will be prosecuted.
