Background
This webpage (“Platform”) has been developed and is administered by The University of the West Indies (“The UWI”) on behalf of The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (“OECS”).
The Platform is designed solely to facilitate connections between potential employers or recruiters (“Prospective Employers”) and scholarship recipients and graduates (“Graduates”) for the purpose of exploring professional opportunities and, where applicable, the provision of services.
Roles and Responsibilities
The UWI acts solely as an intermediary and facilitator between Graduates and Prospective Employers. Neither The UWI nor the OECS is a recruitment agency, and neither acts as an agent, representative, or employer of any party using this Platform.
Nothing on this Platform shall constitute or be interpreted as an offer of employment, a contract for services, or a guarantee of any professional engagement or outcome.
Graduate Data
Personal information relating to Graduates displayed on this Platform is held and administered by The UWI in accordance with The UWI’s Data Protection Policy (https://uwi.edu/data-protection/?q=policy) which governs how such information is collected, stored, used, and protected.
Graduates whose profiles appear on this Platform have voluntarily provided their information and have expressly consented to its use and disclosure for the purposes of facilitating professional contact with Prospective Employers, through this Platform. Such consent is limited to the specific purposes for which the Platform is intended and may be withdrawn in accordance with The UWI’s Data Protection Policy.
For clarity, the OECS does not hold, access, or process Graduate data through this Platform and Graduate contact details will not be published on the Platform. All initial contact with a Graduate must be made exclusively through the designated request form.
The UWI reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to decline to forward any request it considers incomplete, inappropriate, misleading, or potentially harmful and does not guarantee the delivery of any communication to a Graduate.
No Warranties
The UWI does not make any representation or warranty, whether express or implied, regarding:
- the accuracy, or completeness of any Graduate profile;
- the availability, responsiveness, suitability, qualifications, or conduct of any Graduate; or
- the legitimacy, identity, intentions, or conduct of any Prospective Employer or other person accessing or using the Platform.
Non‑Response by Graduates
Neither The UWI nor the OECS accepts any liability for a Graduate’s failure, delay, or refusal to respond to any request submitted through the Platform. Graduates are independent individuals whose participation is entirely voluntary, and no obligation to engage with any Prospective Employer shall be implied by a Graduate’s inclusion on the Platform.
Third‑Party Conduct
The UWI does not vet, screen, monitor, or endorse any Prospective Employer or other third party accessing or using the Platform.
Neither The UWI nor the OECS accepts any liability for any loss, harm, or damage, whether physical, financial, psychological, reputational, or otherwise, arising from the conduct, communications, representations, or intentions of any Prospective Employer or other third party, including harassment, misrepresentation, fraud, or other unlawful or improper conduct.
Any user found to be misusing the Platform may have their access terminated immediately and, where appropriate, may be reported to the relevant authorities.
Acceptable Use
This Platform may be used only for its stated and lawful purpose. By submitting a request through the Platform, Prospective Employers confirm that they are acting in good faith, that all information provided is accurate and complete, and that they will not use the Platform or any information obtained through it for any unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, or harmful purpose.
Prospective Employers must not attempt to obtain, retain, disclose, or misuse any personal data of any Graduate beyond what the Graduate has consented to disclose in the course of direct communication.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The UWI, the OECS, and their respective officers, employees, agents, and representatives shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive loss or damage arising from or in connection with:
- the use of, or inability to use, this Platform;
- any reliance placed on information made available through the Platform; or
- any interaction, communication, engagement, or arrangement, whether initiated through the Platform or otherwise, between a Graduate and a Prospective Employer.
Indemnification
By accessing or using this Platform, users agree to indemnify and hold harmless The UWI, the OECS, and their respective officers, employees, and representatives from and against any claims, losses, damages, costs, or liabilities (including legal fees) arising from the user’s use of the Platform, any breach of this Disclaimer, or any violation of applicable law or the rights of any third party.
Amendments
The UWI reserves the right to amend, suspend, or discontinue the Platform, in whole or in part, at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the Platform following any amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Governing Law
This Disclaimer is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Grenada, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Grenada.
