The Business Development Unit (BDU) is strategically positioned within the campus to develop business engagements with internal UWI partners, industry players, international development agencies, non-governmental organizations and other business prospects. The BDU has successfully led negotiations on behalf of the campus resulting in several structured agreements to facilitate capacity building and other development actions.
Our core team comprises a cadre of staff with expertise in business development, contract law, project management, curriculum development, information technology, higher education leadership and management.

We can collaborate on joint course offerings, content design, development & delivery and, hosting content on our LMS.

Consultancy is a key tool used to build relationships and, it's a great way to transfer knowledge reach key stakeholders throughout the region.

    1. Engage

    All great ventures starts with an idea! Our easy to use Business Engagement Form allows us to get a sense of your vision and how we can get you there!

    2. Assess

    After we receive your completed form we'll shine our spectacles and do a through review. We'll look at the technology required, IP issues, competition, risks, and short and long term feasibility. We'll even work with you to build out your proposal!

  • 3. 🤝🏽

    3. Formalize

    Together we'll fine-tune the proposal and negotiate what's best for both parties. We'll then sign an agreement and get to work! We'll be sure to look smart for the press release.

    4. Develop & Test

    Now we get to work! Depending on the deliverables, we'll get our expert academics and techs to start design and development. We promise to keep you updated every step of the way and reiterate till we get it right.

    5. Monitor

    Throughout implementation of the project, we will keep tabs on our schedule and KPIs. We also provide you with periodic reports and ensure a smooth closeout and all deliverables (and financial obligations) are met.

    6. Deliver

    Once we're in the clear, we begin roll-out of agreed deliverables. For courses or programmes we will handle all onboarding and adminstrative tasks to get students onto our Learning Management System. Click here to request a demo of our systems.

Meet the team

Anneshia M. Welsh is Head of the Business Development Unit in the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal, The University of the West Indies Global Campus and also the inaugural Chair of the Campus’ Entrepreneurial and Innovation Committee. She is an Attorney-at-law by profession and she sits on several university committees where she contributes to university policy development. Notably, she serves on the University Intellectual Property Management and Commercialization Policy Review Committee and is a member of the Standing Committee on Ordinances and Regulations. An avid business development professional with a track-record of mobilizing resources and building strategic partnerships with local, regional and international partners. She also has a demonstrated history of leading cross-divisional teams to ensure there is alignment with organizational goals and execution of strategy.
