UWIDEC APC P. 9
2003/4
UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST INDIES
E-mail
submission of coursework
1
The
University’s Regulations concerning coursework are notably minimal. The proposal in this paper may not,
therefore, even require an addition to them, though it may help to have a clear
statement of an acceptable procedure.
The Board for Undergraduate Studies and the Board for Graduate Studies
and Research are asked to approve the following statement of a procedure for
e-mail submission of coursework assignments which may be incorporated in the
Examination Regulations, if so desired.
2
Where a
lecturer is willing to accept coursework assignments via e-mail, it is proposed
that:
a
students
who wish to send assignments in that manner should send the assignment to the
designated e-mail address of the tutor concerned, copying the message to
whatever monitoring office, if any, is in place. In the case of UWIDEC students, submissions should be copied to
the local DEC site office in the country where the student resides (or to
another office designated by the UWIDEC).
b
The
lecturer must acknowledge receipt of a readable submission both to the student
and the relevant monitoring office within three working days.
c
The
lecturer must report to the student and the monitoring office any problems in
downloading submissions. Assignments
that cannot be safely downloaded will not be regarded as having been submitted.
