BIODATA

Warren M. Cassell is an Attorney at law specializing in Intellectual Property, Media law, Entertainment and Sports law. He is the founder of Cassell & Lewis, formerly “Cassell Law,” a full-serviced intellectual property law firm. Mr. Cassell attended the University of the West Indies where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1998. In 2003 he graduated from the Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California with a Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property focusing on entertainment and sports law. He is the President and Chairman of Immaculate Productions Inc. – the company that produces the Warren Cassell Show.

ABSTRACT

In today’s modern world there is an increased interest in Intellectual Property (IP). This is attributable to the continued movement of countries to an information-based economy. A company’s most valuable asset today may be its IP rather than its real property. Despite this, many people do not understand the concept of IP and most are only familiar with some basic copyright issues. This paper will examine the nature of IP and ways in which intellectual property can generate income for persons and government.


The paper will demonstrate the multi-dimensional nature of IP. The following among other issues will be addressed:

Those in the creative industry should leave the session with a better understanding of the steps necessary for generating revenue from their creativity.
