The UWIVERSE Project of The University of the West Indies (UWI), Open Campus is the champion for the transformative power of Extended Reality (XR) technology in education and the workplace. We are the drivers for enhancing the productivity of the region through a steady stream of graduates equipped with the knowledge and skillset for the next iteration of the Internet – the Metaverse.
The UWIVERSE Project and industry partnerships provide Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (also called Extended Reality or XR) academic and industry solutions. The UWI has existing collaborative partnerships with over two hundred industry players regionally and globally for which the UWIVERSE Project can now provide leading edge opportunities.
What does success look like for you? We will demonstrate our XR capabilities, technology and software and review your XR opportunities. We then kick-off with setting up project teams, goals and timelines.
Along with our associates, we will carefully lead you through Admin Training and on-boarding to develop sustainability in the use and creation of the XR experiences (including the EON-XR Educator & Smart Worker Courses). We will deliver practical sessions to build your discipline specific experiences.
You will have ready access to the necessary expertise to guide you through license acquisition, software implementation, site setup and platform integration. We will continually work with you to drive your solution’s effectiveness.
In launching the installation to your community, we will work with you to create unique learning experiences and immersive learning environments. This may include custom training designed for institutional trainers/XR coaches (Train-the-Trainer model); the use of supplementary XR tools (e.g. 360 cameras, tablets, 3D scanners) and ongoing customer success support.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is facing a new reality due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the Industry 4.0/5.0 skill needs. TVET has been the main avenue for preparing persons with the technical skills for the world of work. However, for reskilling and upskilling of a future-ready workforce, organization will be ahead of the curve if they add Extended Reality (XR) technologies to their education and training practices.
The UWIVERSE Project has therefore connected with the 6th International Conference on TVET in the Caribbean (May 16-19, 2023) to gift the winners of the Conference’s TVET Blended Challenge with XR training and access to software to create immersive learning experiences for the workplace.
In addition, we will be facilitating a virtual workshop on Remote Assistance in TVET. How can XR add value? The workshop will be delivered in collaboration with our key associate, EON-Reality, featuring Dr. Renah Wolzinger, Chief Learning Officer at EON Reality: Innovator in Education & Technology | AI & XR Expert | Grammy Voting Member | Vital Link Chairman.
Another associate, Virtual Reality Jamaica will also be at our Exhibition Booth at the Jamaica Conference Centre to provide interactive demonstrations and engaging immersive enjoyment.
