The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Hosts a Watch and After Party for the Graduating Class of 2023

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Global Campus (formerly Open Campus) celebrated the achievement of its Graduands in a Virtual Ceremony on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 6:00 pm EC via www.uwitv.org, UWItv's channels on Flow EVO and Facebook live. As this year’s Ceremony was held during The UWI Diamond Jubilee milestone themed "UWI at 75. Rooted. Ready. Rising", a short video celebrating the University's work and achievements was aired at the start of the Ceremony.

This Graduation Ceremony marked the first under the new UWI Global brand and honoured approximately 547 graduands (112 postgraduates and 435 undergraduates); of which, roughly 90 were from the Saint Lucia Site. As with past ceremonies, graduands from across the Caribbean joined in the virtual celebration by creating watch parties with their families and friends to cheer them on as their names were called and their pictures scrolled across the screen.

This year, The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia hosted a Watch & After Party for the Graduating Class of 2023 at Caribbean Blend, Rodney Bay. The event saw approximately 40 graduates and their well-wishers during this celebration. The private sector also showed support to the graduating class by providing gifts to them such as sunset cruises, professional photography sessions, customized prints, discounts on local tours, sponsorship of Toastmasters membership dues, and more! As such, The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Site wishes to express gratitude to Endless Plantz, Envisionz Photography, Foster & Ince Cruise Services (St Lucia) Limited, Franzette’s Box, Island Trekkers, Jen’s Tax and Accounting Services, JP Media, MakeUp with Ally, Massy Stores, Moz Inc., Nature Healthyeats, NSDC, Rainforest Adventures, Red Velvet Services, Shanz Beauty Styles, The CommuniCATE Project, Ti-jal Prints, Universal Touch, Caribbean Blend and for their kind support towards the celebration of graduates.

The virtual Presentation of Graduates Ceremony closed with the new graduates repeating The UWI Alumni Pledge and a musical rendition of the University song, “There is a Light” while graduates and loved ones celebrating at Caribbean Blend ended the evening’s graduation activity with a champagne toast and after party.
