COURSE DESCRIPTION

This Course provides participants with an overview of the ever-changing profession of procurement giving a description of the environment in which procurement occurs while identifying fundamental concepts in the discipline. It will also address the major trends and influences in the discipline of procurement.  This Course will link procurement and the other organisational functions.

Objective

This programme is intended to offer skills necessary to build successful careers in the procurement and supply chain industry by providing a conceptual foundation in Procurement Management to those who wish acquire a closer understanding of the procurement discipline.

With the explosion of technology, the shifting demands of consumers, and the new structures of markets combine to convert the world of procurement into one of change and innovation. The procurement specialist of today must be a specialist, a technologist, and above all, a skilled and competent manager. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

 

  • Define and relate the terminologies used in the procurement process
  • Link procurement functions to other organisational functions
  • Describe the environment in which procurement takes place
  • Explain and link the stages in the procurement processes
  • Cite the procurement best practices
  • Discuss the contract management process
  • Identify the various procurement records
  • Manage records, assets and inventory

Currently, this course costs EC$ 600.00.  This covers the cost of tuition, handouts and examination.

The University reviews tuition fees annually and course fees may be subject to change.
