COURSE DESCRIPTION
Managing conflict and communications is designed to equip students with a positive understanding of conflict and the role communication plays in the conflict cycle. Students will be encouraged to consider conflict as an unavoidable symptom of all working relationships that can evolve out of their interactions or be created to enhance the functioning of the organisation. Conflict is a healthy aspect for organisational development which can be detected, predicted and managed by effective communication techniques.
Objective
- On completion of the course students will be able to:
- Understand the communication process
- State the critical role of communication styles in organisation
- Define conflict as a symptom rather than a disease
- Differentiate between conflict patterns in organisation.
- Evaluate their personal conflict handling style
- Align the organisation conflict triggers to effective communication styles.
