Introduction

This programme is designed to provide certification of the academic, vocational and technical achievement of students in the Caribbean who, having completed a minimum of five years of secondary education, wish to further their studies. Students who wish to sit for the CAPE usually possess CSEC or an equivalent certification.

Who is this programme for?

The Advanced Level Studies programme is generally intended for students seeking university entrance and is therefore considered a suitable qualification for entry into tertiary education.

Duration of the programme

This is a two-year programme.

Programme Structure

The programme consists of two Units with each Unit examined at the end of each academic year. Classes are held daily on Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 3:00pm (online). Arrangements are made to fulfil the practical components of subjects requiring physical interaction.

When does the programme start?

The programme starts at the beginning of each academic year in the month of September. However, the commencement of classes is largely dependent on the release of the CXC CSEC results.

Certificate Awarded

Upon successful completion of the two-year programme, students will receive an Advanced Proficiency Diploma awarded by the Caribbean Examinations Council.

Entry Requirements

Passes in at least FIVE (5) CSEC General subjects including Mathematics and English
All subjects with Grades l or ll. Grade III after 1998 will be considered.

GCE subjects Grades (A, B or C) including Mathematics and English.

NO SUBJECT MAY BE COUNTED AT BOTH CXC AND GCE ORDINARY LEVEL
