Certificate in Communication Arts (Part-Time)

Introduction

This programme moves from a basic understanding of the media in a socio-political context to a more specialized discussion where the principles and practice of communications are explored. The programme aims at sharpening consciousness on crucial media issues of the day.

 

This Programme carries normal matriculation status to UWI Degree programmes including Media Specialties at CARIMAC, Mona Jamaica.

 

Who is this programme for?

This Communication Arts Programme is designed for persons in or desirous of entering the media.

 

Programme Structure

Each subject demands 60 contact hours, or 540 contact hours over the two years.

Classes are held twice/trice weekly, Monday-Friday 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Each academic year consists of two semesters of 15 weeks each and a summer session of 9 weeks.

 

When will the programme start?

This programme starts in August and normally runs for Two (2) years.

 

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally have five (5) '0' Levels (or equivalent), including English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects, or mature students who do not strictly meet the academic requirements but have five (5)' years or more experience in the field.
