Global Campus UWI STAT Ambassadors
Ambassador Ria Burgess
Mrs. Ria Burgess is a Barbadian student who studies Financial Management at the Global Campus. She joined the UWI Students Today, Ambassadors Tomorrow (STAT) Corps in 2022, and in 2023 she became the Vice President of Membership.
The UWI STAT Ambassadors are the Vice Chancellor’s Representatives. This Corps has become an incubator for future leaders of the region and allows students to integrate with Caribbean and international students. The Corps is tasked with:
- promoting the UWI, fostering ‘Pelican Pride’ and loyalty to alma mater;
- promoting the prevention of public health crises in the Caribbean;
- encouraging Caribbean integration and the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME);
- promoting disaster mitigation and climate change.
Even before you become an alumni, the UWI STAT offers an opportunity for you to develop leadership skills and to effect positive and long-lasting change in the Region.
UWI STAT Alumni Ambassador Highlight
UWI STAT Ambassadors should represent the best of the student body by giving of themselves to the service of others and the betterment of the Region. Some Ambassadors go above and beyond the call of duty and these students, on graduating, are given the title ‘Alumni Ambassadors’.
It is therefore, the pleasure of the Alumni Office to highlight the 2023 UWI STAT, Global Campus Alumni Ambassadors: Ms. Ariel Albert, Mr. Kisone Ferguson, Ms. Annissa Moulon and Ms. Tamara Patten.
The Global Campus Endowment Fund
The Endowment Fund was created by the Campus Alumni Officer, Sandra Griffith-Carrington in 2021 after having received countless requests for assistance from the students of the Global Campus. This Fund was created to provide scholarships for students and grants for the Global Campus.
You can be a stalwart of the Region’s future by donating to the Fund at: uwi.edu/giving/opencampus.
