In Production & Operations Management, students will examine the resources that are required in the production of goods and services; illustrate the method of their acquisition, utilisation and upkeep functions (i.e. replenishment, maintenance, etc.), as well as their relationship with one another in the smooth and efficient operating of the enterprise by the optimisation of productivity.

It aims to particularly expose students to the use of theory in research designs, knowledge of the main components of a research framework - problem definition, research design, data collection & analysis, and ethical considerations in conducting research. The course highlights the importance of the key role that research plays in decision-making process of businesses.
This course seeks to introduce students to the fundamentals of organisational behaviour and human resource management. The course introduces the students to some of the factors that shape behaviour in organisations, the types of options and strategies managers use to shape behaviour, and the responses of individuals and groups to these strategies. This course also examines the role of the HR professional. Students will learn about the evolution of human resource management with emphasis on the importance of HRM in today’s world.
The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the contemporary project management discipline from a ‘best practice’ perspective, and to enable them to extract from best practices, the specific applications that will enhance the probability of success for Caribbean projects. The types of projects used for illustration purposes will include innovative efforts in renewable energy to the building of complex resort properties to enhance tourism options, as well as, agricultural and other projects which are predominantly located in the Caribbean region.
The course highlights the importance of the founding entrepreneur and her/his drive that leads to the growth of the new concept, as well as the importance of the creative and visionary staff who makes it happen. The role of open and honest communication, transparency and commitment, combined with mutual professional respect is central to the course. Issues of cultural effect and gender factors will also be included in the examination of Caribbean capabilities to facilitate team building. The course provides major information regarding the success of the new entrepreneurial undertaking.
This module explores contemporary themes and issues associated with HRM from a critical and multi-dimensional perspective. It facilitates an analytical review of current practice and thinking in HRM, clarifies the complexities of organizational functioning and issues facing contemporary workplaces. It also evaluates through the application of different theories, the nature of contemporary organizations and key aspects of the management of people within organizations.
This course aims to expose and familiarize students with key ideas in entrepreneurial thinking. It introduces students to the processes by which entrepreneurs identify business ideas, assess and analyze their feasibility and develop strategies to convert them into successful business. Additionally, it exposes students to the best practices employed in developing high quality internationally competitive goods and services.
This course introduces students to the organisational models and designs that will most effectively procure, integrate, develop, protect, compensate and maintain the human resources of the organisation. Students will be exposed to a cross-section of Caribbean cases and readings and will analyse the implications of these practices for the development of the region.
