This is introductory course in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) provides an overview of the importance of establishing safety management systems and safe operations at work. It establishes the historical context of OHS in alignment with the various related legislations employed in the region. 

OHSF020

This course equips OHS students with the practical skills necessary to be effective and efficient in the workplace. Risk assessment is given priority at both qualitative and quantitative levels, with a distinct focus on the qualitative aspect as this is more likely to be used in the field. It also considers that risk assessment is not only mandated legally but also instructive to decision making.  In addition, a brief introduction to emergency and evacuation planning is covered.

OHSF030

This course concentrates on human health risk and psychosocial concerns and explores these in context of sectoral safety. Industrial hygiene forms the basis of this course as well as the natural environment which is introduced as important to understanding of the work environment. Upon completion, students should be able to identify and quantify common occupational health hazards.
