Research Ethics

Research ethics involves the application of fundamental ethical principles to scientific research including the design, implementation and monitoring of research involving humans, animal experimentations, various aspects of academic scandal, including: scientific misconduct; such as fraud, fabrication of data and  plagiarism; and regulation of research. It is based on the understanding that it is the researchers’ responsibility to not harm the study participants.

The UWI Global Campus Research Ethics Committee functions to approve, monitor and review research, inter alia, behavioural research, research involving human participants and educational research. The Research Ethics application process across The UWI has been automated. The Website therefore serves to provide all that you will need to apply for research ethics approval, follow-up on your application and access your approval letter.
