The Office of the Deputy Principal is committed to ensuring that the Global Campus takes the necessary actions required to assist the region in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing Agenda 2030 in general. Specific focus is being placed on SDG 4, Quality Education; SDG 13 Climate Action; and SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals. The Office of the Deputy Principal has therefore embarked on three important projects which involve partnerships and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders who are themselves committed to fulfilling Agenda 2030.
The UWI Climate Education, Justice and Literacy Hub
Launched on May 16, 2024, The UWI Climate Education, Justice and Literacy Hub is hosted on the Global Institute for Climate Smart and Resilient Development (GICSRD) website. This Hub aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly focusing on SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).
The Hub serves as a vital resource, offering important information and materials related to climate change, global warming, and other environmental issues. Resources available include free Massive Open Online Courses, fact sheets, technical reports, YouTube videos, and even engaging materials like comic books tailored for young learners.
This initiative is part of The UWI's commitment to enhancing climate-smart capacity among individuals in the Caribbean and other Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The UWI Climate Education, Justice and Literacy Hub was made possible through a generous grant from the Open Society Foundations (OSF), which supports transformative initiatives in climate action, human rights, and labor standards.
To learn more about our UWI partner on this project, please visit the GICSRD website. The Hub can be accessed directly at The The UWI Climate Education Justice and Literacy Hub. For additional information on climate justice initiatives supported by the OSF, please explore their Climate Justice webpage.

Responsible Futures
The UWI Global Campus is actively engaged in the One UWI Responsible Futures Programme (OURFP), the University's coordinated initiative advancing the Responsible Futures framework in partnership with SOS-UK.
The OURFP is rooted in sustainable development and elevates The UWI’s brand, fosters student agency, reinforces our global leadership in sustainability, and climate responsiveness. It has created structured, student-led pathways for engagement, activism and meaningful learning across all five campuses.
At the Global Campus this work complements initiatives such as the Climate Education, Justice and Literacy Hub by embedding sustainability across online and regional programmes, expanding student-staff partnership, and supporting collaborations with regional and international partners to prepare graduates to address Caribbean and global sustainable challenges.
The Integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into Courses and Programmes at the Global Campus
The Office of the Deputy Principal commenced discussions with various divisions regarding the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the curriculum of the Global Campus. The objective of this project is to increase enrolment into the Global Campus while fulfilling the mandate of the Strategic Plan 2022-2027 and the UN Agenda 2030. More to come on this project that also focuses on pursuing Agenda 2030 in the Caribbean region.
