The Women and Development Unit (WAND), of The University of the West Indies Open Campus and Butterfly Barbados invites you to a stakeholder conversation to be held on Wednesday July 6, 3 pm,
to discuss the implication of the new identification card - the Trident Identity Card - on Barbadian transgender people, allies and family members.

The objective of this stakeholder conversation is to examine and increase understanding of the impact of national ID systems on transgender people and to find avenues to resolve the challenges being experienced.

This stakeholder conversation is for the Barbadian transgender community, relevant government stakeholders, policy makers and human rights advocates.

On the heels of Child Month, the celebration of Mother's Day, and a week before Father's Day, we invite you to a public lecture on child care and family development on Tuesday June 14 at 6 pm AST.
The public lecture will be led by visiting high priest of the Ifa/Yoruba tradition, Araba Olatunji Muyiwa Somorin and moderated by Head of WAND, Ms Taitu Heron.

Tuesday May 17 WAND will be hosting a public forum on the Laws governing incarcerated children in Barbados and Jamaica.

The forum will be moderated by Mrs Kelly-Ann Knight, Gender and Development Speaker, WAND UWI Open Campus with panelists: Alexis Goffe (Human Rights Advocate ), Michelle Russell (Attorney at Law ) and Liz-Ann Taylor (Attorney at Law ).

Are you parents, policy makers, advocates, concerned citizens or development practitioners, who wish to understand what's happening with children and youth in conflict with the law? Are you unclear about how the law functions or doesn't function in service of the best interests of children? Are you curious about how the laws need to be changed?
