Introduction

The Postgraduate Certificate in Human Performance Improvement (HPI) programme is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and practical skills to identify, analyse, and address performance challenges within organisations. Participants learn to diagnose performance gaps, determine their root causes, design evidence-based interventions, management implementation and evaluate results to support continuous improvement.  A key differentiator is that training is not always the solution to a performance problem: participants learn to examine the wider performance system and determine whether improvement requires training, changes to processes or systems, organisational change, or a combination of solutions.

About the Programme

The certificate prepares professionals for, or strengthens their capabilities in, roles such as performance improvement specialists/practitioners, performance consultants, learning and development specialists, training and development specialists, organisational development practitioners, talent development professionals, instructional designers, and roles involving workforce performance, organisational effectiveness, quality or continuous improvement. It is also particularly valuable for managers, supervisors, HR professionals and other organisational leaders who may not hold an HPI job title but are responsible for diagnosing and improving performance within their teams or organisations.
The certificate may be pursued as a stand-alone professional qualification or serve as a pathway to advanced study. Eligible graduates may transition to the MSc in Instructional Design and Technology (MScIDT) with a concentration in HPI, combining advanced capabilities in instructional design and technology with a systematic, evidence-based approach to improving human and organisational performance.
